Dalglish chose to start with largely the same side that lost to Arsenal, but he made two changes. Coates replaced Carragher (freeing Skrtel to play at right-centre back, where he feels more comfortable) while Bellamy took Downing’s place. The big structural difference was that Liverpool started the game with a 4-1-2-3 formation rather than the hybrid 4-4-2/4-3-3 from last week.
