Despite containing the worst performance in Kenny Dalglish’s second spell in charge, this January appeared to have been a turning point in Liverpool’s season. Despite this upturn in fortunes over the past three games, a lack of purchases in the transfer window has left some fans frustrated.

However, there are a number of reasons why the second half of the season may provide a few welcome surprises.
