Statistics correct as at 17th April 2018.
Ahead of the last sixteen of the Champions League, I ran the rule over Porto’s stats to get an idea about how they have been performing this season. Manchester City were obviously a far more known quantity in the last round, but with Roma not familiar to all Kopites, it seemed worth having a dig around in their numbers to see what Liverpool can expect in the semi-final.
With 32 games gone they are third in Serie A, albeit 17 points adrift of Napoli in second, and only ahead of their fierce city rivals Lazio on their head-to-head record (which takes precedence over goal difference in Italy). With Inter a further point back, Roma certainly face a battle to secure Champions League qualification for next season. But do they deserve to be third in the table?
