The Premier League’s February Player of the Month (an achievement in itself for a centre-back) has been on fire this season. His performance level has been consistently high, and just as importantly, he has remained injury-free (touchwood!).
The former Cameroon international has made 32 appearances in all competitions this season, a tally which he bettered only in 2017/18, with 35 appearances. He missed the second half of last season with a serious injury, at a time when we had already lost our other two senior centre-backs, Joe Gomez and Virgil van Dijk, for most of the season. So his excellence and availability since the start of the season has been a real bonus for Liverpool.
