Losing to Chelsea in a Final, at the end of the season, compounds much of what has happened before. Not that a victory would have wholly compensated for our flailing league form, but, of course netting two trophies instead of just one would have assuaged the pain.

Nonetheless, having reflected at length on this season, I still feel it is pertinent to appraise the clubs who have won the title in recent seasons. Ultimately, this is what I would want LFC to do, never mind achieve a top four finish; it is just that I had not expected it right now, and for the reasons discussed below.
