We are still looking for some writers/bloggers for the Transfer Price Index book project, to offer a few comments on the findings from the point of view of the club they write about. The book will be 100% neutral.
The Transfer Price Index is a list of all Premier League transfers between 1992 and 2010, with ‘football inflation’ calculated, to give what would the fee would have been in today’s money. (Here is an example of TPI in use – the top 50 most expensive signings. The figures have changed since then, as this was based on information up to the end of 2008/09; we are now working with figures correct to the end of the 2009/10 season.) From these figures all kinds of comparisons can be made.
If the club you write about is on the list below and you want to participate (your name and website will be included in the book), please email me at the address on the top of this website, and I will reply to you with full details.
Basically, all it entails is providing 200/300 words on the transfer activity of your club: who were great buys, who were disasters, etc., when looking at all the transfers when adjusted for inflation.
The book covers the Premier League since its formation in 1992, and these are the clubs from whose fans I still need a contribution.
