In its own way, given the context, this feels like one of the all-time great Liverpool victories; somehow even better than winning 3-1 at Bayern Munich. This was a game in which everything was going against the Reds, but where, with time running out, they had to dig in and get the win. Perhaps it’ll only be remembered as something special in hindsight if Liverpool do go on to win the league, but when the pressure is at its highest, and the chips were down in a vitriolic away stadium, Liverpool stood tall. The blows from conceding early, and from a referee about three leagues out of his depth, were not gonna stop Jürgen Klopp’s men.
