With Kopites’ thoughts permanently focused on whether or not the Reds will end their wait for the title this season, it can all get a little overwhelming. What better way is there to distract yourself than by settling the simple argument of which Liverpool side is the best one ever?

Except, of course, that it’s not easy to decide, is it? Five European cups secured under three different managers. Two further gaffers who won multiple league titles, including doubles with other trophies. A unique cup treble. And some highly effective and entertaining sides who won nothing but amassed potentially title-winning points tallies and fell agonisingly short of the pinnacle.

There’s clearly no way to definitively answer the question, this article isn’t going to try. But what it is going to do is have some fun with some numbers, before you argue the toss in the comments section below.
