I think for many of us who have endured false dawn after false dawn, and close call after close call, there is actually a sense of calm rather than foreboding like in 08-09, or utter intoxication in 13/14.
Having watched a great deal of golf over the years, I can tell you that the rhythm of the player is clearly visible. It’s an interesting phenomenon; you can watch a man play three superb rounds to lead the tournament, even start a front nine beautifully in the final round, only for his body to tense up, his nerves to take control and his rhythm to go on the back nine come Sunday afternoon, and fall apart.
I’ve learned football is no different.
