Liverpool Football Club News:
Monday 9th:
Jürgen Klopp says he regrets telling Reds fans without tickets to travel to Basel for their Europa League final. (LiverpoolFC.com)
Liverpool have been allocated only 10,236 tickets for the 18 May final against holders Sevilla in Switzerland.
Klopp said: “Last time I spoke about Basel, I spoke like a supporter and I invited all Liverpool fans to Basel.
“That was not too smart, to be honest. Basel is a nice city but it is not ready for us and it was my mistake.”
“Please only people with tickets go there because everything else will be chaos and we don’t want this.
“We have to concentrate on football. It is wonderful to be in the stadium but if you cannot be there then stay at home or come to Liverpool and watch the game together with friends and let’s have a party after this.
“It is really, really, really necessary that you now listen. Most of the time you can ignore what I say but now it is important.”
Joe Allen hailed Simon Mignolet as a key figure in Liverpool’s 2-0 win over Watford on Sunday, highlighting a save the goalkeeper made when the Reds were just one goal ahead as a crucial moment in their eventual victory. (LiverpoolFC.com)
Steven Gerrard has reiterated his intention to return to Liverpool ‘sooner rather than later’ despite currently enjoying himself in Major League Soccer. (Independent)
“I will be going home at some point. I don’t want to start any unnecessary rumours. I’m really happy where I am at the moment. But I’m sure somewhere down the line I will represent Liverpool Football Club,” he said at a question and answer session with Galaxy fans.
“I miss my friends and my family. I miss a bit of cold weather. I miss going to the games. I spent 35 years in Liverpool. Liverpool’s my home, it always will be. This is my second home for a short period of time.
“Sooner rather than later I will return to where I’m comfortable with my people – and that’s Liverpool.”
Joe Allen and Danny Ward have been included in Wales’ 29-man squad for their pre-Euro 2016 training camp.
