Liverpool FC haven’t signed Mario Götze, but appear to be in pole position with his time at Bayern nearing an end (one year to go as of this summer), and with him having been out of favour under Pep Guardiola. That said, Bayern are about to change manager, and Götze, still just 23, could represent the future for them more than Arjen Robben and Franck Ribéry, both now 32. Götze’s problem has also been the emergence of Kingsley Coman, and the outstanding form of Douglas Costa.
However, Götze has a very special relationship with Jürgen Klopp, and perhaps he’ll feel that it’s time to try a new challenge? That certainly seems to be the scuttlebutt.
I thought I’d take a look at what Götze could bring, so what follows is an article detailing my thoughts, followed by a roundup of quotes and stats relating to the German attacker.
