Liverpool won’t have long to dwell on the bitter disappointment of losing the Capital One Cup final on Sunday as they return to Premier League action on Wednesday evening, against the team who inflicted the club’s first ever cup final defeat on penalties: 8pm kick off UK time.
As demoralising as that defeat was, it should give those players who have a future at Anfield the perfect motivation to never feel that way again. How you react immediately following a major disappointment can tell a lot about a person’s mentality and inner strength. Liverpool still have 12 league games to play and if we beat Man City, the gap between us and 4th would be down to six points. While it’s mathematically possible, there’s always a chance. Then there’s the small matter of the Europa League last 16 clash with Manchester Utd next week.
