Southampton-v-LiverpoolPlayed 11, won seven, drawn three, lost one. Goals scored 21, goals conceded eight. Jürgen Klopp’s first 11 games in charge of Liverpool have seen the Reds progress to the semi-finals of the Capital One Cup, reach the knockout stages of the Europa League and slowly but surely climb up the Premier League table. Next up is a trip to St James’ Park to face a struggling Newcastle Utd on Sunday; 4pm kick off UK time.

The Magpies currently sit in 19th place with ten points from their opening 14 matches. They’ve conceded the joint most goals (30 shared with Bournemouth), scored 14 times with only Stoke (11), Aston Villa (12) and West Brom (13) having scored fewer. They’ve won two in the league all season – against Norwich 6-2 at home and Bournemouth away 1-0 – and suffered a third round exit of the Capital One Cup losing 0-1 at home to Sheffield Wednesday. The pressure is mounting on Steve McLaren following heavy back to back defeats against Leicester at home (0-3) and Crystal Palace away (1-5).
