You only have to look at the treatment of Luis Suarez by the British media, in relation to the latest diving saga, to see how a vast number of outlets have rushed to condemn ‘the foreigner’.

On the issue of diving, much more fuss is made about the Uruguayan than Gareth Bale, Danny Welbeck and Ashley Young put together. And yet all have been guilty of clear dives. When news agencies needed a photo of a diver, they opted for Suarez; funnily enough, one of the pictures chosen was after a dangerous tackle that resulted in a free kick.

The English don't dive...
