It’s been one hell of a season to be a supporter of Liverpool Football Club. The good news of a top class signing in the form of Luis Suárez joining the club had been overshadowed by Fernando Torres handing in a written transfer request before subsequently joining Chelsea in a British record transfer deal believed to be £50m. Torres’ departure has paved the way for Newcastle’s Andy Carroll to join the Reds in a deal that makes him the second most expensive player in British football history – and Liverpool’s new record signing – at around the £35m mark.  A new era is well and truly underway at Liverpool.
