Liverpool welcome Rafa Benitez’s Newcastle Utd to Anfield on Saturday – 3pm kick off UK time – with the Reds having recorded three consecutive league wins following the emphatic 4-0 win over Everton on Wednesday, making it 19 points from a possible 24 over the last eight league games. Newcastle enter this fixture with their Premier League status under serious threat with just one win – a 3-0 home victory over Swansea – from their last nine in the league.
The Toon Army are unbeaten in their last two with a 1-1 draw against Manchester City at St James’ Park in mid-week adding to that victory over Swansea. A win for Newcastle would see them leapfrog above both Sunderland and Norwich with the former hosting Arsenal on Sunday. A victory for Liverpool would see us climb up to 6th and leave us two points behind Manchester Utd in 5th.
