Could Christopher Nkunku Be Our New Number 9? Scouting Report.

Over the next few weeks we have asked Mizgan to produce a weekly on players linked to Liverpool. Here is the first.

With it being widely reported that Sadio Mane’s exit from Liverpool is close, this could be the summer we bid adieu to one of the best wingers/forwards this club has ever seen. It has also been mentioned that the Reds would only sell the Senegal international if and when they find a suitable replacement.

In this article, we will consider whether RB Leipzig forward Christopher Nkunku might be that man. Although he has not been strongly linked with a move to Anfield thus far (he is linked with a lot of clubs at the moment), but there have been links nevertheless.  Nkunku has the attributes to lead the line for Liverpool in years to come. The 24-year-old French international had a fantastic season in the Bundesliga, playing in different positions across the front line, but predominantly as a number 9 or a support striker.

With 31 goals + assists in the German league in the recently-concluded season, Nkunku was fifth in the list of players from top five leagues around Europe with the highest goals + assists tallies in their respective leagues. The Frenchman bettered that return by 19 compared to the year before. So, in terms of direct goal involvements, the last 10 months have been simply phenomenal from him.

So let’s dive into the details about the player, his numbers, his attributes and how he could fit into the Liverpool system if they were to land him.
