Jürgen Klopp has achieved a hell of a lot in his time at Liverpool. Chief among them is the small matter of the 97 points his side accrued in 2018/19. But he has also steered them to four finals, three of them in Europe. In the club’s illustrious history, only Bob Paisley, with four, reached more continental finals. Klopp has compiled a very impressive CV at Anfield.

But there is a glaring omission: silverware. His latest opportunity to put that right comes against Tottenham Hotspur in Madrid on Saturday. Which, in a way, brings Klopp full circle in his Liverpool career, as they provided the opposition when this crazy adventure started less than four years ago.
