Forty-eight hours is a long time. Just ask Jack Bauer. You can save the world twice over in that period or you can have a nice rest and some light training while your next opponent toils in Turkey going through extra-time and penalties before crashing out of a European competition for the second time this season. With the Sky Blues having an extra 48hrs rest after their Champions League match against Barcelona, our Europa League commitments may have handed the advantage to Man City as they travel to Anfield for Sunday’s mid-day clash; 12pm kick off UK time.

Ten points separate Pellegrini’s side in 2nd from the Reds in 6th and Sunday’s fixture sees the best team (City) away from home (on current form and based on their overall record in the league this season) pitted against the best team (Liverpool) on current form over the last six games home and away.  So the extra 48hrs rest City had following their footballing lesson at the feet of Barcelona on Tuesday could prove pivotal on Sunday.
