There has been much talk recently of the possibility (or not) of Brendan Rodgers’ side scraping into the top 4 of the Premier League this season. According to Sports Club Stats, Liverpool will definitely finish in the top 4 if we finish on 75 points. That’s 39 points from a maximum of … 39. Easy.

They simulate a series of seasons over-and-over and log the data. This enables the author to calculate the possibility of where Liverpool will finish come the end of the season.

I thought I would take a look at where teams have come from to finish in the Top 4 and if Liverpool stand any chance of clawing their way back to the promised land. The table below looks at where the team that finished fourth in the last five seasons was after 25 games (data collected from www.statto.com):
