Fulham fans aren’t happy with their latest manager. Liverpool fans aren’t happy with their latest manager. Inter Milan fans aren’t happy with their latest manager. In general, they all preferred their previous manager.

Perhaps part of the problem comes down to perceptions. Each set of fans thought they were getting a replacement who was a step down from their predecessor, and a tone of disappointment was set at the start.

But there were other problems, too.
