The one question I’ve been asked most following my meeting with Rafa last autumn is ‘who was the kid he pointed out as very promising?’
With Rafa still in charge, I wouldn’t be identifying the youngster and writing a short assessment. But as there will be a new manager, it’ll be interesting to see if the 19-year-old plays his way into the new man’s plans.
Also, a noted European scout I canvassed about the player shared Rafa’s optimism, so it could be that one of the less-heralded reserve players is actually an important part of the Spaniard’s legacy.
