Liverpool host West Bromwich Albion in Saturday’s late kick off – 5.30pm UK time – with the Reds playing back to back home games for the first time this season. The Baggies sit in 12th place and have won just two of their eight league games: a 1-0 win at Crystal Palace on the opening day of the season and a 4-2 home win over West Ham.
Tony Pulis’ side are unbeaten in their last four in the league but have drawn their last three – against Stoke away, Sunderland away and Tottenham at home – all by the same 1-1 scoreline. The Baggies are ranked 12th for goals scored (Liverpool are 3rd) and are ranked in 4th for goals conceded (LFC are 10th) and as this is a Tony Pulis side, he’ll be looking to set up his side to frustrate Liverpool.
Pulis has yet to record a victory at Anfield from seven previous visits, losing three and drawing four, including the corresponding fixture last season which ended 2-2. Overall, Pulis’ sides have held Liverpool to nine draws from 16 fixtures home and away, with Liverpool winning just three of those as mentioned above.
Liverpool are unbeaten in six against the Baggies home and away in the Premier League but the recent history between the two sides looks less favourable for the Reds if you look at the previous 11 meetings, which show Liverpool having won just three of those 11.
