This piece was triggered by recent events in the Academy, with McParland and Borrell leaving, and the following discussion on the underlying reasons – not yet fully apparent.

I’ll be explaining why I think quarterly capitalism and manager’s power can be equally bad.

Is there a power struggle? Is Rodgers strengthening his position? Will the Academy change its philosophy? Judging from Arnar’s comments, maybe both McParland and Borrell had reached the “end of the line” under the current circumstances within the club, so I won’t discuss whether or not Liverpool made the right decision or not to let them go.

My aim is to deliver some thoughts on the importance of a long-term strategy for Liverpool’s youth system and how the youth system would be best kept away from too much influence or power of the Manager.
