Scoring goals and creating chances has hardly been a problem for Liverpool under Jürgen Klopp. If we look at the Premier League Golden Boot Race this season, the top three are Mohamed Salah, Diogo Jota and Sadio Mane. The top assist race is also dominated by them – with Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson up there.
The Reds are leading the goals scored column in the league, with 71 goals in 27 games at more than 2.5 goals per game (2.63 to be exact). In no previous time under Klopp have this team amassed a goal-scoring rate as high as this, the previous high being 2.26 goals per game in the 2018/19 season. Hence, we won’t be surprised if they cross the 100-goal mark in the league for the first time since 2013/14 (hopefully with a better end result in the table!).
So what changes has Klopp made to get this attacking unit purring like this? Underlying stats show that Liverpool are having more shots on goal, and more touches, and committing more bodies in the opposition box.
