The Liverpool football team’s attacking trident – Salah Firmino Mane – is universally known. But you could make the case that there is, or could soon be, a new triangle in town, a “back-to-front” combination to take over the mantle of the famous front three.
This shiny new trio consists of a full-back, an attacking midfielder and a wide attacker. They are, of course, right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold, young midfielder Harvey Elliott and forward Mohamed Salah.
They started together for the first time in a 2-0 win against Burnley and played the whole 90 minutes, and did the same in the 1-1 draw against Chelsea. In those two games, out of the three players, Alexander-Arnold had one assist against Burnley and Salah scored a penalty versus Chelsea. Elliott had good moments on the ball, being creative in the final third and forming a highly promising partnership with the other two while playing on the right-hand side of midfield.
