The Reds’ first match of 2019 is the small matter of a trip to the Etihad Stadium to face Champions Manchester City in Thursday’s 8pm kick off (UK time).
A victory for City would reduce the gap to four points while a win for Liverpool would move them ten points clear with 17 games to play.
