When Huddersfield got promoted last May, I was delighted that there was a really local game for me to go to, just 15 miles and two train stops away. It’s also a town with a legendary pubs and beer scene – what’s not to like?
Then the fixtures come out in June and I find Huddersfield away is on a bloody Tuesday night in January! That picture in my head of how the day’s going to be has to be hastily redrawn, my expectations revised downwards. And with the game due to finish about 21.50 and the last train 22.24, it’s going to be very tight afterwards.
