Liverpool’s trip to the Emirates Stadium to face Arsenal on Friday night – 7.45pm kick off UK time – marks the halfway point of the Premier League campaign with Liverpool in 4th place and through to the last 16 of the Champions League, playing a style of football very few teams in Europe can match.
Despite the many critics who still label the Reds as defensively fragile, it’s worth pointing out that we’ve conceded just four goals in our last nine league games, which includes two debatable penalties and a fluke goal by Chelsea’s Willian, while banging in 24 goals at the other end during the same period. At Anfield, we’ve conceded three in nine league games, only defensive merchants Man Utd and Burnley have conceded as little as us on home soil. With just three defeats in 27 matches in all competitions this season, you have to wonder if most of our critics are visitors from the Upside Down.
