After a promising start to the season, Liverpool’s fortunes have nosedived recently and right on queue the international break has delivered another kick to the nuts with Sadio Mané set to miss around nine matches due to a hamstring injury picked up while playing for Senegal. Perfect timing with the visit of Man Utd to Anfield on Saturday; 12.30pm kick off UK time.
Saturday’s clash between the two powerhouses of English football will be the 169th league meeting between the two sides and in recent times the Red Devils have had the upper hand, being un-beaten in the last six league matches home and away (winning four) and have won two of the last three league fixtures at Anfield, drawing the other one. Over the last six seasons, Liverpool have recorded just two Premier League victories – the league double from the 2013/14 campaign; 1-0 at Anfield, 3-0 at Old Trafford) – from the 12 last fixtures home and away, so surely we’re well overdue a win in this fixture!
