Part 1 by Gary Fulcher.
Liverpool kick off their Champions League campaign proper, playing host to Sevilla on Wednesday evening – 7.45pm kick off UK time – with the Reds smarting from the 0-5 defeat at Manchester City on Saturday.
These two clubs last met in the 2016 Europa League final which the Spanish outfit won 3-1 to deny Liverpool a first major European trophy since 2005. The defeat was doubly painful as it prevented the Reds from qualifying for the Champions League for the 2016/17 campaign.
Liverpool’s other opponents in Group E are Maribor and Spartak Moscow and the Reds will fancy their chances of qualifying for the knock out stages, despite the majority of their squad lacking experience in this competition.
