Paul Tomkins has been at the match tonight and will no doubt add some thoughts on proceedings in due course. For now, Andrew Beasley, Daniel Rhodes, Chris Rowland and other TTT regulars will analyse the game, and there’s post-match statistics and videos too.

Post-Match Thoughts

Well, my head’s gone, but thankfully not as badly as Darwin Núñez’ did for him. Honestly, whatever next? This season has started like some of the really bad ones from the last two decades, which tail-spun out of control before we knew it.

Liverpool are so much better now than they were then, I don’t have anything like the same concerns but the Reds’ title chances have almost halved in two games, per FiveThirtyEight. The standard is so high that it’s hard not to be concerned.

Aside from Núñez’ foolishness, it’s very hard to be too down on the performance though. I started tracking shot stats by half at the start of 2018/19, and tonight was the first time in that period that Liverpool had 17 shots in the first half.
