Liverpool are back in League Cup action on Wednesday evening and it’s yet another mammoth away trip, with the Reds making the epic 50 min drive north to Preston to face Frankie McAvoy’s Preston North End.
The Lilywhites were one of the founding members of the old football league back in 1888, and their Deepdale Stadium – their home since 1875 – is the oldest ground in English football based on continuous use by a football league club, with Preston North End switching their focus from cricket to football and officially being founded as a football club in 1880 (they were founded as a cricket club in 1863).
