Against a side who stopped our record unbeaten run at Anfield, and prevented us going through the whole season with a full set of wins at home, this could really have been a banana skin. And yet, our historical record versus The Clarets – in terms of underlying performance – is always pretty healthy (over two expected goals and rarely conceding more than one); thankfully, we exceeded that in this match and crucially managed to put the ball in the back of the net early on. Had the Salah goal been allowed soon after, this could really have been a hammering. As it was, we added a second with twenty minutes to go, and only really conceded a big chance (like the Norwich game) right at the end which, once again, was saved by the imperious Alisson.
