Shame we finished the season with a dead rubber, after qualifying for the Champions League with a game to spare in the end. As we all know, hindsight is a powerful drug; as is football, and during the course of yesterday’s victory over Crystal Palace we occupied fifth, fourth and third place in the table as the matches were being played out. Though, in fairness, we were third for over an hour after Mane scored in the 35th minute. Neither of our rivals for Champions League football even managed a point, and Chelsea scraped in by default.
