With the visit of Spurs to Anfield on Sunday – 4.30pm kick off UK time – Liverpool play their fourth ‘big six’ match of the league season and we are only at the 26.3% mark of the campaign, meaning 40% of our league fixtures so far have been against teams who finished in the top six last season.
We have also played Man City in the Community Shield, Chelsea in the Super Cup and face Arsenal in the 4th round of the League Cup next Wednesday, meaning of the 16 matches played across all competitions, the Reds will have faced the fellow members of the ‘big six’ seven times (44%) within the first three months of the season.
