Liverpool ended 2018 with a 5-1 thrashing of Arsenal to move nine points clear of third-placed Spurs and seven clear of Manchester City in second with 18 games to play. The Reds’ first match of 2019 is the small matter of a trip to the Etihad Stadium to face Champions Manchester City in Thursday’s 8pm kick off (UK time).
A victory for City would reduce the gap to four points while a win for Liverpool would move them ten points clear with 17 games to play.
