It started while watching LFC vs Brighton on the telly with my four year old daughter Charlotte a few weeks ago.

“Daddy, do girls play football?”

“Of course they do” I replied. “In fact Liverpool have a women’s team”.

Never missing an opportunity to further indoctrinate one of my children into the ways of LFC I casually added “Shall we go and watch them?”

Charlotte readily agreed and that’s how we both find ourselves packed up with lunch and ready to go late one Sunday morning to see Liverpool FC Women play Yeovil Town Ladies FC.

This year, the women’s team are playing their games at Prenton Park, home of Tranmere Rovers, giving me an opportunity of visiting a new ground. A steady drive up from Staffordshire, which included a surprisingly smooth run up the M6, meant we got to Prenton Park about an hour and a half before kick-off.
