The Reds’ perfect start to the season continued with a 3-2 win over PSG in the Champions League on Tuesday evening making it six wins from six. Next up is the visit of Mark Hughes’ Southampton on Saturday – 3pm kick off UK time – and if maximum points are picked up, it will be the best start to a season in the club’s history, as no other side* has recorded seven wins from the opening seven competitive games in the league and cup.
(*This is debatable depending on whether you include the Charity Shield as a competitive game. The 1990/91 Reds won their opening ten league and cup games but began the campaign drawing 1-1 with Man Utd in the Charity Shield)
