Played nine, won seven, drawn one, lost one, 27 goals scored and only eight conceded. Liverpool have had a pretty decent pre-season, so let’s take a closer look at which players featured and for how long, and how many goals and chances they were involved in. Has any duo linked up particularly well? Before we get to all of that, here’s a rundown of some points of interest from each match.
Chester FC 0-7 Liverpool
Liverpool began their pre-season with their biggest win in a warm-up match since 1999. On that occasion they played a German XI, who are described on lfchistory as being “a team of locals from Obersthaufen in Germany”. Chester may only play in the sixth tier of English football, but they are at least an actual team. The Reds used 22 players and had 22 shots, with 12 on target, and including Sheyi Ojo’s penalty win, nine players scored and/or assisted a goal.
