The second half of Liverpool’s season gets underway at Anfield on Boxing Day afternoon – 3.00pm kick off UK time – with Liverpool in 4th place and very possibly the team neutrals want to watch, so exciting and unpredictable are our games.
At Anfield, after those successive draws against Everton and West Brom, we’ll be expected and expecting to beat bottom of the table Swansea. But Swansea spring a horrible surprise on us last season at Anfield, winning 3-2 after they’d gone 2-0 up for their only ever league win at L4, though they have won there in the cups. Once we’d got level at 2-2, only one team was going to win from there – but they didn’t. Instead it was the Swans who grabbed the winner, and that game may give them more confidence than they ought to have for this game.
Swansea, now managed by former player Leon Britton following the sacking of Paul Clement, drew their last game (Britton’s first as manager) 1-1 at home against Roy Hodgson’s Palace.
