The first Merseyside derby of the season is at Anfield on Sunday – 2.15pm kick off UK time – with the Toffees now under the guidance of former Bolton, Newcastle, Blackburn, West Ham, Sunderland, England, Tesco and Crystal Palace manager; ‘Big’ Sam Allardyce.
This will be the 197th league meeting between Liverpool and Everton and you have to go back to the previous century for the last time the Toffees left Anfield with all three points. The date was Sep 27 1999 and a Kevin Campbell goal after four minutes turned out to be enough to earn Everton a victory, in a match that saw three red cards (all in the second half) with Sander Westerveld and Francis Jeffers earning red cards for getting too handsy with each other and Steven Gerrard doing a trademark Gerrard lunge on Campbell during injury time.
