Liverpool kick off a hectic December with a trip to the AMEX Stadium to face Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday afternoon – 3pm kick off UK time – in a month when the Reds play no fewer than eight matches. The Seagulls have lost just once at home in the league – a 0-2 defeat against Man City on the opening Saturday of the season – and have recorded four draws (joint most at home in the top flight) and two wins against W.B.A. (3-1) and Newcastle (1-0).
This will be the first league meeting between the two sides since March 1983 when they drew 2-2 at the Goldstone Ground.
More recently, Liverpool knocked out The Seagulls from both the League Cup and FA Cup during the 2011/12 campaign. The Reds recorded a 2-1 win at the AMEX Stadium in a League Cup third round tie in September 2011 and met again in an FA Cup fifth round tie at Anfield in Feb 2012, which Liverpool won 6-1.
