Liverpool travel to St James’ Park on Sunday – 4.30pm kick off UK time – to face Rafa Benitez’s Newcastle Utd before the second international break rudely interrupts things for a fortnight.
There have been some cracking contests between these sides over the years and considering Newcastle are my home town club, this fixture means more to me than most others, especially considering some of the stick I used to get when we often lost to the Magpies back in the early to mid-90s. I had my revenge however, with those two 4-3 wins and the 5-1 (Dec 2008) and 6-0 (April 2013) hammerings dished out at St James’ Park.
