How Was Their Season? Review of Liverpool FC’s Young Players

So I got given the youth for my season review and a list: ‘Woodburn, TAA, Grujic, Ojo, Ejaria, Gomez, Stewart (is he even young anymore?) – those who’ve been in and around the first team, really.’ I also added a couple of my own to make a top ten of first team ‘prospects’.

It’s interesting to compare who was on the list this time last year and what subsequently happened.

For perspective, Brannigan, Ilori, Adam Phillips, Teixeira and Canos didn’t make the grade whereas loanees like Flanagan, Kent, Ward and Chirivella may get looked at again in pre-season but there haven’t been any noises to suggest they’re forcing an indisputable case for themselves. I thought I’d heard Ryan Kent had a good season but when  I politely enquired on Twitter as to how he was getting on I got a piquant swarm of Barnsley fan replies most suggesting he was not the best thing since sliced bread. Poor Ryan. It’s a volatile world out there.
