16/17 Premier League Preview – Matchweek 23: Chelsea (H)

Liverpool close off January with a home match against Chelsea on Tuesday evening – 8pm kick off UK time – and if the Reds were to lose to the runaway league leaders, it would mean four consecutive home defeats for the first time since 1923/24. Liverpool finished that season in 12th and despite confidence seemingly being at an all time low under Jürgen Klopp, it’s worth remembering Liverpool sit in 4th place, two points behind Arsenal in 2nd and four clear of Manchester Utd in 6th.

The Reds are without a win in their last three in the league and have been knocked out of both the EFL Cup and FA Cup this month but there are still 16 league games to play, starting with the chance to reduce the gap to Chelsea from ten points to seven with a win on Tuesday evening.
