    What Shankly Proved

    What Shankly Proved

It’s not losing games that terrifies fans. It’s not even relegation; not at clubs like Liverpool.

It’s ‘going backwards’ that frightens the life out of supporters. It’s what makes them crazy. Fans have no real control, and some can’t handle that. Some of them send their crazy my way (gee, thanks for that).

    Everton (a) Pre/Post-Match Discussion

Usual format: subscribers can discuss the game, before, during and after, using the comments boxes below. Massive match for both teams, although only one manager seems to be under pressure. Both clubs have had a lot of injury problems this season, which no doubt accounts for each being below par. Personally, I think it’d be [...]

So, can the Reds do it? Personally speaking, the performance, and a win, is more important than qualifying, which is out of our hands. Next priority, no more injuries! And a chance to see Aquilani from the start?

The LFC ‘Team’ That Got Away

The LFC ‘Team’ That Got Away

This is the ‘team’ that Liverpool failed to sign, going back to 2003. The interesting thing is that none of these players was especially expensive, but often too expensive for Liverpool all the same. In other cases, the powers that be at the club either vetoed or dallied over the deal.

    Solidity and Balance

Only once the majority of players are fit, especially the main men, will we get an idea of where this team is headed, and if the correct balance can be struck.

    Six Months On

Six months ago, with Liverpool challenging for the league title, my dad was diagnosed with adenocarcinoma (a cancer that lines all internal organs), and given six months to live.

    Lyon – Pre/Post-Match Discussion

From OptaJoe on Twitter: French clubs have won 73% of their Champions League games this season (English: 64%, Spain & Italy: 43%). The fact that Liverpool have also got a good Italian team in the group (66% win rate, with Mourinho’s Inter Milan, with three defeats out of three, dragging down their nation) shows that the [...]

Class is Permanent, Form Is Temporary

Lest some ex-stars forget, one of the oldest Liverpool FC adages is that ‘form is temporary, class is permanent’.
