Kenny v The Top 5 – Half A Season In Stats

Kenny v The Top 5 – Half A Season In Stats

Comparisons between our two managers this season have been well documented and debated, but just how well do Kenny Dalglish’s efforts this season stack up against Ferguson, Ancelotti, Mancini, Wenger and Redknapp? In this piece I have first compared Dalglish and Hodgson’s stats to baseline Kenny’s success within the club and to set the scene [...]

DATE: 2/2/2011 VENUE: Anfield KICK OFF: 8PM COMPETITION: Preview: It’s been one hell of a season to be a supporter of Liverpool Football Club. Liverpool FC End-of-Season Stats: 2009/10

    Liverpool FC End-of-Season Stats: 2009/10

Now that the 2009/10 season is consigned to the history books, I thought I’d take a look at our results and performances from a statistical viewpoint. There has been a lot of talk about just how poor a season this has been, with some sections of the media labelling it as our worst showing since 1998/99. While this may be the case when viewed as league position only, the reality is not quite as cut and dried as that.

    Hull City (A) Pre/Post-Match Discussion

Match Preview: Now that the 4th Champions League spot has been claimed by Spurs, and with our elimination from the Europa League semi-finals at the hands of Atletico Madrid, the best Liverpool can hope for this season is to finish 6th. This is providing Aston Villa fail to beat Blackburn at home and we beat Hull City in our final game of the season. A far cry from the expectations we had last August, it’s safe to say that no Liverpool supporter will be sad to see the end of what has been a frustrating and depressing season.

    Chelsea (H) Pre/Post-Match Discussion

Liverpool v Chelsea games are never short of drama or controversy, but this meeting comes with an extra dose of anguish and mixed feelings. A Liverpool victory will maintain our slim chances of finishing 4th yet it could also put Man Utd in the driving seat to secure their 19th league title if they beat Sunderland.

    Momentum Killing

The one thing I’m finding strange about this season is the switches in momentum for a number of the bigger clubs.

Keeping Alonso Is Key To Success

It seems that Real Madrid aren’t going to go away. They think that Xabi Alonso is uniquely talented, but they aren’t prepared to pay what he’s worth. It’s a little ‘rich’ to suggest the price is too high when you’ve just spent £170m on four players. Perhaps as fans we can’t be too critical of [...]

    Caution: summer ahead

(Piece submitted to .tv at the start of last week, but which has been held off due to Glen Johnson not officially signed at the time. As it hasn’t appeared yet, I’m putting it on here.) While there are a number of journalists I like and respect, I find it’s best for my peace of [...]

    The Greatest Gift

Sent this to the official site, but will use it here too. Very personal piece, and explains why I may be writing a bit less in the coming months, and possibly not updating the blog very much. Sanguine’ is a great word. It can be a colour – blood-red – and it can also mean [...]
