Liverpool have the opportunity to take points off one of their rivals for a top four finish when Tottenham Hotspur travel to Anfield on Tuesday evening; 8pm kick off UK time, and to be shown live on BT Sport. It’s a clash between the two in-form teams in the Premier League with Liverpool having lost just one of their last 12 in the league compared to Spurs having lost one of their last ten, with Mauricio Pocchetino having already tasted victory at Anfield after managing Southampton to a 1-0 victory here last season. That can be countered with Spurs’ terrible record at L4, with the North London outfit having left Anfield with maximum points on just six occasions from 71 attempts.

Spurs currently occupy 5th place, four points above the Reds, and have the 4th best record away from home having recorded victories at West Ham (1-0), Aston Villa (2-1), Hull City (2-1), Swansea (2-1), Leicester (2-1) and W.B.A. (3-0), drawn with Sunderland (2-2) and Arsenal (1-1), with defeats at Manchester City (1-4), Chelsea (0-3) and Crystal Palace (1-2). They’ve kept six clean sheets (two away and four at White Hart Lane) and their tally of 17 goals scored on their travels is the 4th highest in the top tier.

Liverpool in comparison have recorded five victories at Anfield: Southampton (2-1), W.B.A. (2-1), Stoke City (1-0), Swansea (4-1) and West Ham (2-0), which is the joint fewest wins on home soil amongst the top ten teams. Our tally of five draws at home is the highest amongst any of the top ten with only ‘draw specialists’ Everton and Sunderland sharing the spoils more in the league with six apiece at home. Our two defeats at home – against Aston Villa (0-1) and Chelsea (1-2) can only be bettered by Chelsea (0) and Arsenal (1) while we are ranked 5th for goals conceded at home (11). We are unbeaten in our last eight Premier League games and have kept four consecutive clean sheets – a league first under Rodgers – and if we prevent Spurs from scoring on Tuesday, it will be the first time we’ve kept five consecutive clean sheets in the Premier League since 2007/08 under Rafa.
