On the other hand, ‘keepers are underpriced IMO. Pay the big money and get a great one, and keep him for 10 years. He won’t miss many games with injury, there won’t be issues fitting him into our team, he will immediately improve the first XI and win us points. He doesn’t have to be super-young, (though it seems to be the case that the true top keepers are obvious at a very young age), so long as he’s quality and under 28 he can go on for a significant number of years. If being better in the opposition box is very expensive, being better in your own box isn’t, and it’s absolutely worth it.
